It is one of six constituencies in Nyeri County. The constituency in its current form was established for the 1988 elections, after splitting of former Nyeri Constituency into two; Tetu Constituency and Nyeri Town constituency. The constituency is within Nyeri Central Sub county which has two Locations Namely Mukaro and Kiganjo. It has 21 sub Locations as follows: 1. Mukaro Location has; Marua, Muruguru, Kihatha, Githiru, Kinunga, Mununga-ini, Gatathi-ini,, Kamakwa, Kariara, Chorong'I, Mathari, Kihuyo, Thunguma,, Majengo, Riamukorwe, Gatitu, Ruring'u sublocations 2. Kiganjo Location has; Kiganjo, Nyaribo, Kirichu, Gachika sublocations VISION: To be a model constituency in Kenya delivering equitable socio-economic transformation, modern education infrastructure, and empowered communities. MISSION: To efficiently mobilize and utilize NG-CDF public resources through transparent, accountable, and participatory governance for sustainable grassroots development in Nyeri Town Constituency.
